Let’s be honest about it, we all want to achieve the most beautiful skin. I am one of those people who is crazy about skin care. I am always trying out new tips, treatments and products, in the hope of giving my skin a boost.

I must admit that I am relatively lucky when it comes to my skin; I inherited my mum’s spot-free complexion. The only downsides is the fact that my skin is super sensitive and prone to drying out incredibly easily.

While good skin can be down to genetics, your skin’s health, isn’t just down to your genes. By implementing the right skin care habits and living a healthy lifestyle, you can give your skin a boost.

Want to achieve gorgeous, glowing skin? Here’s what you need to do:

Have a good skin care routine in place

Never underestimate how important having a good skin care routine is to your skin’s health. If you want glowing skin, you need to ensure that you are taking proper care of your face. When it comes to skin care, we all have different ways of doing things. However, there are a few basic things that we should all do each day to keep our skin in tip, top condition.

Cleanse every day. One of the most important things that you can do for your skin is cleanse it at least once a day. Throughout the day, dirt and oil builds up on our skin which, if not washed away, can lead to breakouts and blackheads. (Something that none of us beauty-obsessed girls want!)

That’s why cleansing at least once a day is so important. Don’t forget to only use a good-quality cleanser, that’s as natural as possible. For some high-quality cleansers, check out The Skin Regime website and shop. There is such a lovely selection on here, including products for various skin types.

Keep your skin hydrated. For healthy-looking skin, moisturising morning and night is important. If you suffer from dry skin like me, then keeping your skin hydrated is a must. For best results, opt for a natural moisturiser, so that it won’t cause irritation.

For skin that glows, exfoliation is vital. Once or twice a week, use an exfoliating scrub, like the L’Occitane Shea Scrub, to exfoliate your face and neck. Exfoliating will not only remove dead and dry skin cells, but it will also give your skin tone a boost. (For silky, smooth skin, exfoliation is crucial.)

Protect your skin from the sun

Many of us make the catastrophic mistake of thinking that we only need to wear sun protection when the sun is out. Sadly, however, that’s not the case. Even when the sun is hidden behind a cloud, it’s UV rays can still penetrate and damage our skin.

If you don’t already where sun protection each day, you need to start. This doesn’t mean wearing sunscreen every day, all it means is investing in a moisturiser that contains SPF protection. At the moment, I am loving Bobbi Brown’s Extra Repair Moisturising Balm with added SPF, right now. It’s wonderfully soft, silky and easy to apply, and best of all, it protects my skin from the sun.

Quit smoking

I have never been a smoker – smoking just wasn’t something that ever appealed to me, thank God. If you smoke, you are not only putting yourself at risk of lung cancer but with every puff you take, you are also damaging your skin. If inhaling those yucky chemicals isn’t enough to put you off, hopefully, the fact that you’re damaging your skin, will be.

Did you know that cigarettes lead to premature ageing? If you don’t want those dreaded fine lines to appear sooner rather than later, you need to quit smoking for good. Quitting might be hard, but if you want gorgeous skin, it has to be done.

Sometimes, achieving beautiful, glowing skin can seem out of reach. However, with a good skin care routine and a few lifestyle changes, it is possible.
