pay

It’s that time of year again when we could all do with a bit of extra cash. Even if, like me, you work full-time, the chances are that you could do with a little extra money. Until you move out of your family home, you don’t realise just how expensive it is to live by yourself. From rent to bills, there is just so much to pay for. It can often be hard getting by on your own, especially when you first move out of home. (I know, at first, I really struggled.) The good news is that if your job isn’t making you enough to get by on, there are plenty of other ways that you can earn a little extra.

To help you find a way of boosting your income that works for you, I thought I would share a few ideas. Each of these ideas is a different way of earning – they may not all be for you but are still worth considering.

Become a babysitter

If you like children, are CRB checked and have experience with child care, babysitting could be the perfect way to earn a little extra cash. The great thing about babysitting is that it’s cash in hand, so once you’ve finished for the night, you get paid there and then. Plus, it’s great money – you get to choose what you charge. As a rule of thumb, it’s best to charge one amount before midnight, such as £7 an hour, and then after midnight up it to £10 per hour. (Obviously, make sure to tell your customers this beforehand.) All you need to do is develop a few regular clients, and you’ve got the perfect way to make extra money.

Take part in studies and clinical trials

This might be a slightly controversial one, but hear me out on this. An excellent way to give your income a boost is by taking part in medical studies and clinical trials. A lot of people avoid this type of work as there is an element of risk to it, but that risk is very small. Plus, you get to choose what trials and studies you take part in, so anything that you don’t feel comfortable with, don’t do. The great thing about getting involved in this line of work is that the money on offer is good, and you have to do very little for it. Have a think about it, it may not be for you, but if it is the earning potential is good.

Launch your own small business

Whether you love baking cookies and cakes, can write fantastic content or have a service to offer, why not start your own small business? Yes, it will most probably require a small investment and will take a little time to build up. But once your business is setup, you can give your income a massive boost. The great thing about running your own business to make extra money is that you can be your own boss and set your own hours. Plus, you never know where your venture will take you, maybe one day you’ll be doing it full time.

So there you have it, a few ideas for giving your income a boost. We could all do with a little extra money, so these money-making ideas are definitely worth thinking about.
