Two new highlighters to add to my collection…

You might remember a few weeks ago, as part of the Blogger’s Beauty Brawl, I reviewed an eyeshadow palette from Technic called the Mega Mattes Eyeshadow Palette. As well as sending me one of their palettes to test out and review, the lovely people at Technic also sent me two of their Highlighter Sticks in Blush and Bronze.

As you’ll know if you follow my blog, I have a serious highlighter addiction, so I couldn’t have been more excited when I found that I’d been sent these. My highlighter collection is made up of both high end and drugstore products, so it will be interesting to see how these two compare.

What were my thoughts?

The packaging is pretty but simple. The highlighting blush is in a pastel pink tube while the bronzing highlighter is in a tan coloured tube, both are subtly shimmery and have silver text on them. The tubes themselves are made of plastic, however, they do seem to be quite sturdy. What I love about the fact the highlighters are housed in wind-up tubes, is that they’re so easy to use.

The first thing I noticed when I removed the lid of each highlighter was the smell – a strongish, floral scent. I must admit, I’m not really a fan of scented makeup, purely because I have sensitive skin. Personally, I prefer to use products that are scent-free.

The Highlighter Stick in Blush is a pastel pink colour with a subtle shimmer to it, while the Bronze version is more of a golden champagne shade. Both colours are pretty, I must admit I wasn’t too sure about the blush shade, simply because it looked very pink. However, when I applied it to my skin, I realised it was a beautifully soft pink, perfect for using as a subtle, natural-looking blush/highlighter. I love a natural look, so for me, this really is the perfect highlighter/blush. As for the bronze shade, I love the subtle champagne highlights it gave my skin. I wouldn’t personally use this as a bronzer, simply because it’s not dark enough for me. However, as a highlighter it is GORGEOUS!

The beautiful colours of these two highlighters aside, I also love how creamy and easily blendable they are. Often, with budget makeup brands, their products don’t live up to the high end brands. However, I’m pleased to say that these two highlighting sticks really do live up to higher end products. They’re pretty colours, they’re easy to use, and blend like an absolute dream. I mean, what more could you want?

Will they be a regular feature in my makeup bag?

Thanks to the fact that these highlighting sticks are easy to use, add the perfect pop of colour, and blend well, they have already become a regular feature in my makeup bag. Priced at just £3 each, these are affordable, no matter what your budget.
