As an influencer – blogger or vlogger, success doesn’t always come easy. The problem is, the blogosphere is saturated with tens of thousands of blogs and vlogs. This means that to have any chance of getting noticed and making a success of your little corner of the internet, you need to know what you’re doing. It’s not just a case of creating fantastic content or amazing videos; there’s a lot more to it than that.
The good news is, that if you know what you’re doing being successful isn’t as difficult as you would think. It just takes time, hard work, and a good understanding of the secrets of success. There are certain things that successful influencers do that gives them the edge over the rest of us.
Luckily for you, I’ve been able to chat with a couple of well-known bloggers to get them to dish the dirt on what their secrets to success are.
If you don’t get the basics spot on, your chances of success are low. The basics of being a successful influencer are, first and foremost, a responsive website that works well and is easy to use and navigate. A free site might seem great because it’s free, but if you’re serious about being successful, you need to invest in your website. You need to use a reputable web design company, like Lightbox Digital, to have a bespoke, CMS powered website created for you. It might cost you, but to be successful, this is crucial. Plus, custom made sites are always responsive which means they work well on all devices.
It’s also essential to be smart about scheduling and post-planning – have a schedule in place that you stick to. As for posts, don’t just share any old thing, plan each and every post carefully. This is a good habit to get into for when you decided that you want to start working with brands. You see, brands often expect a detailed post plan before agreeing to collaborate. To help you keep track of your schedule and post planning, having a good organiser is crucial. Personally, I can’t recommend Passion Planner enough – it’s fantastic.
A lot of influencers think that to get to the top it’s all about the relationships you build with brands and PR companies. However, the truth is, that’s not the case. The fact is, it’s just as important, if not more so, to make blogging buddies. Any successful influencer will tell you that the relationships they have built with other bloggers have been crucial. The reason for this is because collaborations can have a big impact on your following and getting your name out to new audiences.
The great thing about making blogging buddies is that it’s so, so easy to do. There are social media groups that you can join – Facebook has a ton of groups for bloggers in all niches. Twitter has plenty of hashtags that you can find bloggers using. Use these, pick a blogger, follow them, and get chatting to them via Twitter. Another great way to make new blogging friends is by attending networking events. Just make sure to say hello to anyone and everyone and get chatting with as many different people as possible.
To be a successful influencer, it takes time and a lot of hard work. It’s also important to understand what steps powerful bloggers and vloggers took, to get to where they are today.
