expenses

Foregoing expenses sounds like a way to leave yourself under-resourced, we know. But that doesn’t have to be the case. The truth is that technology allows us to be a lot more flexible and varied in how we set up our businesses. It depends on what it is you’re delivering as a product or service. In most cases, however, you can skip some of the expenditures that other businesses might consider essential. Don’t worry, we’re not recommending that you leave your business lacking. We’re just talking about finding other ways of doing things.

You don’t need a fully kitted office

One of those big costs for most businesses is going to be the workplace itself. Nowadays, however, there are loads of ways of getting around the need for renting an office space. For one, you could consider working from your own home office. If it fits your business, it could even extend to employees, giving them the chance to work remotely. If you absolutely need space from time to time, then you might even consider renting co-working spaces. These kinds of spaces can even give you meeting rooms for when you need private office space to talk with the team or a client. The fact is that some businesses don’t need much physical space at all.

DIY your online

Most businesses, however, are going to need some digital space. The tech costs of setting up your online presence can be a bit higher than most would expect. But they don’t have to be. First of all, make sure you’re scouting the market and comparing between different cheap web hosting options. Then rethink how you’re going to create your online content. Instead of hiring a website designer, you could use tools like Wix that let you design your own with very little knowledge of website building. For your social media efforts, using management tools like Hootsuite can help you organise and track it all without having to pay someone to do it. Getting online is an important part of business, but you don’t have to rely on professionals as much as you might imagine.

Let someone else do it

There are times, however, when relying on professionals can be exactly the right options. A lot of businesses think of their needs and jump to the conclusion that they need staff to do this task or that. However, by taking a closer look at those needs, you might be able to save on the costs of taking on employees. For example, you might need help sorting out your accounts. But once they’re sorted, you won’t have much more need of the person who did it in the first place. Outsourcing an accountant in that kind of situation might be a better idea than hiring someone full time. Always consider whether a task could be outsourced cheaper and better than employing someone to do it.

Your staff, your premises and your tech costs are probably going to be the biggest ones you’ll consider. Hopefully, we’ve helped you spot a few different ways you can cut down on them without cutting down on the impact of your business.
