Currently, my business is not at a stage where I would need to move its base out of my home. I have a dedicated office space complete with everything that I could possibly need to run my business successfully from the comfort of my own home. However, as my business grows and develops, that may no longer be the case, and eventually, I may need to consider my options for where my business is based.

If your business has already got to that point and you are panicking about what steps you should take, don’t worry because I am about to share all of the best advice for making your next steps. I’m lucky that I have a business mentor to help and assist me with these kinds of decisions, so I want to share the information that I have learned, with you.

Without further ado, below is a guide to the steps that you can take once the time comes to move your business out of your home.

Do you research

The first step that you need to take is to spend some time doing your research. Look at what there is available in the local area in terms of business resources so that you have a good idea of what options there are available to you. You may find that there is a suitable business centre nearby that you could rent an office space within, for instance. As part of your research into what is available, take the time to talk to other business owners in the local area, to see what they would recommend doing.

Be open-minded

When it comes to your business premises options, make sure to remain open-minded. The fact is that there are plenty of options available, it is just a case of being willing to consider them all carefully. One option that is a fantastic one is office sharing with other smaller business, helping to support each other in a shared working environment. This is something that Signature Works offers; a shared office space where you can work alongside other growing businesses. I love the concept of this – lots of bright, motivated minds working together in one place, supporting and assisting each other. For me, this would be the ideal solution, should I ever need to move my business out of my home.

Understand that it will take time to grow

It is important to understand that just because you have moved your business out of your home, that doesn’t mean that it will grow into a huge corporation overnight. It will take time and a lot of effort to make your business grow, and it is important to realise that. However, you may find that once you run your business from somewhere that is not your home, you stumble across a wider range of opportunities.
