As you will know if you’re a regular reader of my little blog, I’m the proud pet parent of a rather excitable dog called Monty. Monty is a four-year-old Springer Spaniel cross Jack Russell – yes, I do know that’s a strange combination – who loves his food!

I always remember that when we first got Monty and I took him to puppy training classes at Pets at Home, I was told how important the right diet was for his health and how it’s important not to buy a supermarket dog food brand, and why it’s important to instead opt for a high-quality pet food, which is exactly what I have always done.

I was recently sent a bag of Hill’s Pet Food – Science Plan Canine Sensitive Stomach & Skin with Chicken – for Monty to test out, and I have to say he really liked it. As soon as I filled his bowl with a scoop of the food, he came running over, tail wagging, ready to chow down.

What are the benefits of this dog food?

What I love about this dog food is that it’s stocked in most pet stores, which certifies that it’s a high-quality food. I am the first to admit that Monty doesn’t eat anything that isn’t of a high-quality, comes vet recommended and contains carefully sourced ingredients.

The Hill’s Science Plan food is designed to offer a perfectly balanced diet that aids digestive health and works to improve skin and coat health. It also offers a range of other benefits:

  • Enhanced levels of Omega-3 fatty acids and Omega-6 fatty acids for a healthy coat and happy skin
  • The special fibre blends helps to aid intestinal health
  • Nourishes skin and replenishes its natural oils
  • Clinically proven antioxidant benefits
  • No artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives

Did Monty like Hill’s Pet Food?

Monty absolutely loved Hill’s Pet Food – as soon as I opened the bag he was inquisitive about what ‘treat’ I had for him.

I had noticed that in the lead up to starting his new food, he had been quite itchy, which suggested his skin may be slightly dry and sore. Once he had been eating this new food for a few days, I realised that his skin had started to improve as he was no longer itchy. This was fantastic to see, and such a relief. I also noticed that Monty’s coat looked glossier and generally healthier.

Often, when Monty starts a new diet his tummy can be a little funny for a few days, but I didn’t notice this at all with Hill’s Pet Food. Since switching to Hill’s Pet Food, Monty hasn’t had any upset stomachs, which is great to see.

Would I buy it again?

Yes, I would 100% get Monty this food going forward. Not only does he love the taste of it, but it also seems to agree with both his skin and stomach, which is fantastic to see.
