christmas time

Let me start by saying just how please I am that it’s Friday – it’s been one of those weeks! I have been looking forward to this weekend for so long because it’s a long weekend, well for me at least, it is. I’ve booked Monday off work because my mum is coming up to see me for the day, and I couldn’t be more excited. (Not only to see my mum, but also to have a rest – life has been crazy busy these past couple of weeks.)

I don’t normally do these ‘Thank God it’s Friday’ posts, but as I am so excited about the weekend that I couldn’t resist. So what do I have planned and why am I so excited?

Like me, the fiance has been working an awful lots these past few weeks, but he’s off all weekend. So we’ve planned to do some Christmas shopping – we’ve still got a few gifts that need to be bought, go to a couple of Christmas markets, and have a lovely festive weekend. (It is the start of December, after all!

We haven’t got our Christmas tree yet, so this weekend we’re heading to a Christmas tree market. I LOVE picking out the Christmas tree, the only problem is, I’m fairly picky. (I don’t mean to be, I just like my tree to be perfect.) I’m really looking forward to this, as Christmas markets always make me feel festive. (Hopefully, there’s some mulled wine!)

Once we’ve got our tree, we’re then going to decorate the house. When it comes to putting up the Christmas decorations, a little tradition of ours is drinking mulled wine or cider and playing lots of festive tunes. (I do get a little Christmas crazy!)

I’m also hoping to make my first batch of mince pies this weekend, I love baking mince pies. I use my late Grandma’s recipe for the pastry – she was the best cook, which makes baking them extra special.

On Monday, when my mum comes over, we’re planning on doing some Christmas shopping, and visiting yet another Christmas market. I am super excited about this, as I’ve heard there’s a stall where we’re going that’s selling chocolate wine – every girl’s dream!
I have lots of this weekend, all of which is incredibly festive. I couldn’t be more excited, as I love preparing for Christmas, it’s just so much fun. Tell me, how do you like to get in the festive spirit?
