Today, I am going to be talking career ideas for beauty, makeup, and cosmetics addicts. You may not realise it but your love for beauty and cosmetics doesn’t have to just be a hobby, it can become a job.

So that you don’t have to, I’ve done lots of research on the best makeup and beauty-based jobs. I’ve put all my research together and come up with a list of all the best roles. These offer good pay, career advancement, and lots of freebies. The good news is that there are so many different roles that are perfect for you if you’re beauty and makeup mad. It’s just a case of working out which roles are most suitable for your skills and passions.

Want to learn about all the most exciting beauty and makeup based jobs – all you need to do is keep reading. Hopefully, one of these roles will inspire you to take the leap and find a job that you love.

Beauty journalist and blogger

If you’re crazy about beauty and makeup and love to write – and have your own individual tone of voice, a role in writing could be perfect for you. I went down this route and am so glad that I did – for me running a beauty blog was the perfect option. I love testing out new products, reporting on industry news, and working closely with other journalists and members of the press.

I’ve linked beauty journalist and blogger together because today there’s little difference between them. Both roles require you to create copy, to review new products, report on industry news, attend events and plan interviews. If you love testing out and comparing new products and have a way with words, this could be the perfect option for you.

It’s worth noting that to be a blogger you don’t need a degree. However, to be a professional journalist, a degree is one of the best routes into the journalism industry. There are, however, online courses and work experience schemes as well.

If your love of makeup is based on application instead of product testing, then working as a makeup artist could be perfect for you. The great thing about a career in makeup artistry is that there are so many options to choose from. It’s not just a case of creating natural-looking makeup. If you undertake the right makeup course, you can work in any area, from special effects to prosthetics.

To become a professional makeup artist and have any chance of success, you’ll need to undertake training. It doesn’t matter how skilled you are, if you don’t have the right training, many people will refuse to work with you.

Have you always wondered how beauty products are designed? Do you love coming up with new colour combinations and ideas for your favourite makeup brands? Then perhaps, a role as a cosmetic chemist could be perfect for you.

Okay, you would need a science degree to be successful but that shouldn’t stop you. If you’re passionate about something, such as cosmetic science, the time it will take for you to get there shouldn’t matter. I know if I were scientifically minded, a career in cosmetic chemistry would be my dream. I mean who doesn’t want to learn how to design their own lipsticks?

There you have it ladies, all the best career ideas for beauty junkies.
