I’ve seen so many vloggers doing ‘my daily makeup routine’ videos and I’ve been quietly getting jealous. I love the idea of sharing what my daily makeup routine consists of. I would have made a video for you lovely lot but I’m really not the video type. I get nervous, speak too fast, and turn bright red – not a great combination for a vlogger. So instead, I thought I would put together this blog post for you.

Let me start by saying that I am a creature of habit. Once I’ve found a foundation that I love or an eyeshadow brand that is perfect for me, I will use their products for years. Take my eyeliner, I’ve been using Rimmel Kohl Eyeliner in dark brown for about 11 years. I sometimes try a new eyeliner, just to see what I think, but I always go back to my old favourite. It’s like getting addicted to a TV series, only the beauty blogger version – getting addicted to makeup.

So what is my daily makeup routine made up of?

For my face:

Okay, so let’s start with primer, a must-have if you want your makeup to have any chance of lasting the day. I love Benefit The Porefessional face primer because it smoothes uneven skin, mattifies and blurs imperfections. However, I’m not so keen on the price tag. Which is why a few months ago I switched to Maybelline Babyskin Instant Pore Eraser Lightweight Primer. It is a perfect dupe of Benefit The Porefessional but it’s a third of the price. I love it.

My foundation is something that I swap and change, depending on the occasion. For days where I’m not doing much but want to beautify my skin, I use Collection BB Secrets Beauty Balm. The coverage is super light and natural looking, making it ideal for those days where I don’t want a full face of makeup. For days where I want to look more made up, I use Clinique Chubby In The Nude Foundation Stick. I still gives a light, natural-looking finish but it lasts longer and gives a more polished look. To apply my base, I swap between my So Eco flat foundation brush and my Beauty Blender.

I don’t use concealer everyday, again it depends on the occasion. However, if I am going to conceal, I will dot it under my eyes and at the edges of my nose. I have a fair few concealers, my favourites, however, are Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer – a perfect dupe for Benefit erase paste, and Kiko Dark Circle Tone Eraser. These are my two go-tos when it comes to concealer.

For skin finishes I set my makeup using Rimmel London Clear Complexion powder, I dust this across my face and dot a small amount under my eyes. I then apply a small amount of blush to my cheeks – normally Smashbox Soft Lights Duo, followed by bronzer – this tends to be MUA Mosaic Bronzer. For highlighter, I swap and change depending how I’m feeling, but my favourites are Smashbox Soft Lights Duo, No7 Instant Radiance Highlighter and Topshop Glow in Polished.

My makeup setting spray of choice is currently Makeup Revolution Pro Fix. It might smell a little of alcohol, but the fact it only cost £5 and works well, makes it more than worth the strong smell. I’m a big fan.

Moving onto eyes:

If I am going to prime before applying my eyeshadow, I use my MAC Paint Pot in Perky. I apply a small amount of this with my middle finger, dotting it all over the lid. As well as being an excellent primer, it also looks great as a standalone eyeshadow.

For my brows I tend to swap and change between different products. Right now, my brow products of choice are Models Own More Brow and Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil.

When it comes to my eyeshadow, I like to stick to nude, earthy tones. My favourite eyeshadows to use are my Smashbox Eyeshadow Trio in Sepia, my MAC Paint Pot in Perky, or my Pop Beauty Bright Up Your Life palette in Naturally Bare. I also use the lightest shade of my Smashbox Eyeshadow Trio to highlight below my brow bones and in the corner of my eyes.

I’ve already talked about my favourite eyeliner – Rimmel Kohl Eyeliner in dark brown.

Finally, to top off my eyes, I use either Benefit They’re Real Tinted Eyelash Primer or Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara. I stick to primer for days I want a natural look and then opt for proper mascara on nights out and for special occasions.

For my lips:

I don’t wear lipstick every day, but when I do, I tend to opt for nude-toned colours. My favourite at the moment is my Ciate London x Olivia Palermo Satin Kiss Lipstick in soft pink nude.

So there you have it, my daily makeup routine.
