When Cosmetify emailed me and asked to join their #FestivalFix campaign, I couldn’t have been more excited. I am a real fan of their website and seeing as I am beauty mad, it’s the ideal campaign for me.

Preparing for a summer music festival

It’s officially festival season and I couldn’t be more excited. While most people are mad about the music, for me it’s the beauty styles that come with festival season. Don’t get me wrong, I love the music, the atmosphere, and the excuse to drink cocktails from very early in the day, but for me, the number one thing about festival season is the chance to go all out when it comes to my makeup.

This summer, I’m heading to a private music festival in the London suburbs, and while far smaller and more intimate than the likes of Glastonbury, Reading, and Isle of Wight, it will be a really unique experience. While the line up looks really exciting, I am most excited about having the chance to dress up in festival fashion and play around with a few makeup looks.

How will I achieve my look?

Picking the perfect festival hair

It’s not a festival if you’re not wearing a flower crown, is it? I have already been browsing online to find that perfect flower crown to place on top of whichever hairdo I opt for. I have seen some beautiful designs online, from pastel-hued peonies to daisy crowns.

As for my hair itself, I will be adding a few little plaits in, potentially with ribbon woven into them. I will then either put my hair into half up, half down with space buns or I will french braid my hair, ending in the creation of two space buns.

I will definitely be adding lots of glitter to my hair too. I mean, it’s not a festival look if there is no glitter, is it?! I often find that when it comes to festival hair inspiration, Pinterest is an incredible resource, as there are lots of different ideas on there to take a look at.

Festival Makeup

As for my makeup, there are so many looks I would love to try. Pinterest has, again been my main source of inspiration for these looks. I love makeup, but I do sometimes struggle with the creativity side of applying it.

I’ve recently updated my summer makeup kit with a selection of new products perfect for festival looks from Cosmetify. What I love about this site is the number of brands and products they stock – unlike most beauty sites there are plenty of options available, from high-end brands like Nars Cosmetics to more affordable options like Barry M.

If there is one thing that every festival makeup look needs it is lots and lots of glitter. Bearing that in mind, a must-have product for achieving that perfect festival look is loose glitter in varying sizes, from chunky to fine. While you can apply loose glitter to your eyes, I am personally not a fan, instead, I would rather apply it from my temple down under my cheekbone. The best way to apply this is with a small amount of vaseline, as this holds the glitter perfectly in place.

For my eyeshadow, I am planning on using a foil eyeshadow, like Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish. There are plenty of options available to choose from, and a wide range of colours too. While I love bright and bold tones on others, on myself I prefer more nude and natural tones, such as copper, gold, or rose gold.

To top off my eyes, I will add a pair of natural-looking false eyelashes. I always find that for music festivals, falsies are a must-have item, as they have a significant impact on how your eyes look.

For my lips, I always prefer to use liquid lipstick, as I find that this tends to stay in place far better than a traditional lipstick or a lip gloss. As I have super pale skin, I tend to opt for natural and nude tones or muted pinks and burgandy tones. As I want my eyes to be the main feature of the look, I will most likely opt for a nude tone similar to MAC Velvet Teddy.

There you have it, a guide to how I would prepare my makeup and hair for a summer music festival.
