Over the past few days I’ve been testing out Urban Tan’s lovely salt scrub, Glamour Grit. Because I’m someone who’s always suffered from dry skin, I am a little obsessed with exfoliating products. There’s nothing worse than dry, scaly skin, especially when summer’s on the way. It’s this time of year, when the weather’s first starting to warm up, that taking care of our skin become a big deal.

Not only because soon enough we’ll be stripping down to our swimsuits to sunbathe while sipping Strawberry Daiquiris – a girl can dream – but also because soon enough it’ll be time to start fake tanning. I’m milk bottle pale – almost translucent in places, so before I hit the beach I HAVE to slap on a little fake tan. The number one rule of fake tanning is always exfoliate and moisturise beforehand, else your tanning product will stick to any dry areas, leaving you with a patchy finish.

That’s where Glamour Grit comes in, if you want to achieve soft, smooth skin prior to fake tanning, this is the perfect product. Glamour Grit is an oil-free salt scrub that can be used to gently exfoliate the skin, removing any dry or dead skin cells. Packed full of lots of natural goodness – anti-oxidizing vitamin E, hydrating sea kelp, and nourishing green tea – this grapefruit scented product is fantastic for buffing rough skin, so that it’s fake tan ready. What I love about this scrub is that it smells beautiful; it has a wonderfully refreshing, tropical scent. I’m also a real fan of the fact that this scrub is cruelty-free and 100% vegan, is free of parabens and harmful chemicals, and is also gluten-free.

It might have a very thick consistency but when applied to wet skin with damp hands, it soon loosens up. Compared to scrubs I’ve used before, the exfoliating salts are rather on the large side. This means that when exfoliating it’s important to be extra gentle – I tend to apply the scrub the my finger tips and then use small circular movements on areas of skin that I want to exfoliate.

After a week or so of use every couple of days, my skin is wonderfully soft and smooth. After just a couple of uses my skin felt smooth enough to apply fake tan to, but I held back as I wanted to see the results after a week of use. As well as being a fantastic product to include in your sunless tanning routine, Glamour Grit could also work well simply as an exfoliating product for keeping your skin soft and smooth.

Costing just £14.99 for a 320 gram tub, this is an affordable product. Especially as a little of the scrub goes a long way, meaning that it will last incredibly well. I would 100% recommend this product; it’s natural, smells amazing, and leaves skin beautifully soft and smooth. To buy your own tub of Glamour Grit, check out the Urban Tan website here.
