Welcome back to the Blogger’s Beauty Brawl…

It’s sunday today, which means it’s DAY SEVEN of the Blogger’s Beauty Brawl… Day seven already – where’s the time gone? It’s sad to think that we’re almost done! Oh well, there’s always the Christmas Beauty Brawl to look forward to…

It’s the BEST day – lipstick day!

I’ve been looking forward to lipstick day FOR AGES! I have lots of lovely lipsticks, some high end and some budget brands. For the Beauty Brawl, I decided to go for a lipstick from a brand that in recent weeks I’ve grown quite fond of – Makeup Academy or MUA for short. I’ve already tried quite a few of their normal lipsticks so I decided to opt for one of the MUA Matte Lipsticks to try out and review. After much deliberation, I finally picked Mystic Marsala as my colour of choice. While we’re on the subject of MUA’s lipsticks, does anyone know what that little pot at the bottom is for?!

I love the colour pigmentation of this product – it’s beautifully bright and bold. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually like this colour. I’m normally a nude girl but the red, plumy colour of this lipstick was surprisingly pretty on me… That being said, I was a little disappointed with the product itself. Unlike the regular MUA lipsticks, it’s not creamy or easy to apply, it sticks to the lips and makes it a nightmare to apply properly.

The packaging I’m not too keen on. I think that’s simply because lipsticks always tend to be housed in black tubes not white ones. The white plastic tube with a silver stripe that the MUA Matte Lipsticks are presented in are sleek and stylish but also look ever so slightly cheap…

The price of the MUA products always amaze me. I mean, how can a lipstick cost just £1 and do what it’s supposed to?! It’s rare that I give 100 out of 100 for something, but at a £1 a tube, this lipstick deserves top marks.

Final thoughts…

Overall, I have mixed feelings about this lipstick. The colour pigmentation is great, the price is fantastic, but the product itself is a let down. It’s drying and doesn’t apply well, unlike the other MUA lipstick… I think a new formula could be needed! Have you tried MUA’s Matte Lipsticks, what did you think?
