beauty brawl

Hello and welcome back to the Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl, today is day eight. How can it be the eighth day already – where has the time gone? The fact that it’s day eight means that there is only three days until Christmas – am I the only one who doesn’t feel all that festive? (I must be in need of Starbuck’s festive latter, that always gets me in the Christmas spirit.)

Today, we’re reviewing mascara, and I’ve picked Benefit They’re Real mascara. I have been using this product for a good few months, and absolutely love it. It was actually my mum who recommended it to me, and boy am I glad she did, it’s become a beauty bag staple of mine.

The name of the product, ‘They’re Real’ suggests that with this mascara you can achieve eyelashes that look like false lashes. The question is, does this product give you that false eyelash look without the falsies? In my opinion, yes and no.

According to the box, this mascara should lengthen, curl, volumise, lift, and separate lashes. The mascara formula is meant to be long wearing and non drying, so that it looks good for hours at a time.

I have heard quite a few negative reviews about this mascara, and I just can’t understand why. Okay, it may not give you lashes that actually look like falsies, but it does an AMAZING job at enhancing your lashes. For me, the best thing about this mascara is the way that it volumizes and lengthens your lashes without making them go clumpy. (We have the specially designed wand to thank for this!)

I am crazy about this mascara, but I do understand that the mascara you chose to use is a personal choice. Just like some of us swear by liquid eyeliner, others of us refuse to use anything that can’t be sharpened. (I should admit that I am one of the pencil liner gals, liquid liners really aren’t my thing.)

The one downside of this product for me is that the large brush makes it hard to reach the inside area of your eye. I like to make sure that I evenly coat all my lashes, but this is a little tricky with the wand from this mascara.

On to the price. At £19.50 a pop, it isn’t exactly what you would call a budget-friendly mascara. While I am mad about this product – it’s become my go-to mascara, I do question whether it’s ever so slightly overpriced.
