Sexy woman holding an electronic cigarette to her lips

In the late forties and early fifties, smoking was seen as being extremely glamourous. It was a habit that would get you into the VIP room, not cause a range of nasty health conditions. Today, however, that’s no longer the case. We all know the health risks that come with smoking, and yet, every year more and more of us take up the habit. Sadly, the highest percentage of new smokers are young people between the ages of 15 and 25.

While I personally am not a smoker, I have friends and family members who are or were smokers. One of which is now suffering from COPD – a group of nasty lung diseases, and others with various smoking-related health problems. So it’s safe to say that when it comes to smoking, I am most definitely against it.

I’ve watched some of my nearest and dearest struggle to quit smoking, so I thought that I would share a few tips to help make the process easier. Giving up something that you’re addicted to is never going to be easy, but you can make quitting a little less stressful for yourself. All you need to do is take note of the tips and advice below.

Tell everyone

Don’t keep the fact that you’re trying to quit to yourself, tell everyone. If you keep quiet about it, you’ll find it even harder to stay away from the cigarettes. If all of your closest family and friends know that you’re trying to quit, they’ll be able to help and support you.

It may also be worth telling a couple of your co-workers so that no one makes the mistake of offering you a cigarette. Don’t be embarrassed to tell people that you’re trying to quit, the more people that know, the better.

Find an alternative to cigarettes

Whatever you do, don’t make the mistake of attempting to go cold turkey. Not only is your body addicted to cigarettes but also the nicotine in them, so you need to find a way to help curb any cravings. For nicotine replacement, there are lots of options. From nicotine chewing gum to using e-liquids to vape, there are lots of options, it’s just about finding out what works best for you.

That being said, the most popular option for helping to quit smoking does tend to be vaping. This is because it not only gives you something to hold, like a cigarette, but the liquids also contain nicotine. Vaping liquids, like these American eliquids in the UK, are a great option because you can choose the nicotine strength. This means that over time, you can reduce the amount you’re having, slowly weaning yourself off it.

Be positive

When it comes to giving up smoking for good, mindset is everything. You may not realise it, but if you want to ensure that you’re successful, you need to be positive. If you start off with a mindset that’s negative, you’re twice as likely to fail. If, however, you quit with a positive mindset and know that you can do it and will be successful, you’ll find the whole process much easier.

There you have it, all the best ways to make quitting smoking easier. It won’t be easy to give up something that you’re addicted to, but with the right help, it is doable.
