sic med

I personally, may not be anywhere near needing to take on a team of employees right now. My business is very much a virtual one that I run from home – in case you don’t know what I do; I’m a freelance journalist, social media consultant, and PR executive – at the moment I don’t really have the budget for help, but one day soon I will do. When that day comes, this is the help that I would make sure I had on hand, most probably virtually, of course, but even so, it would be there.

Social media consultant

Seeing as I do social media consulting, I personally wouldn’t hire one or outsource my daily tasks to a specialist as I am capable of doing it myself. However, if I weren’t clued up when it comes to social media or hadn’t trained in it at university, I 100 percent would be hiring a social media consultant. Because in today’s day and age, social media is the key to effective marketing and best of all, is free. So it would be silly not to take advantage of this resource, wouldn’t it? Whether you choose to hire an in-house social media consultant or outsource the task, it doesn’t matter, all that matters is that you ensure you have the help on hand that you need.

Procurement specialist

To ensure that when it came to my buying, I was getting the best deals and picking the highest quality services, I would consider hiring a procurement specialist. To find the perfect person, I would most probably consider using procurement recruiters, to ensure that the person I hired was up to the task in hand. Seeing as I know very little about this area of business, I would want to ensure that the candidate I selected had all the key knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the role. Hence why I would use a recruitment agency to help me find the perfect person.

Lawyer

There is so much paperwork when it comes to running a business, which means that having a lawyer on hand is always a bonus. I might know how to do my own taxes and deal with the day to day paperwork, but when it comes to legal issues I have very little knowledge, so I would always choose to use a lawyer rather than deal with a problem myself. It might cost me, but what I always remind myself is that if I deal with a legal issue in the wrong way, I could end up in court, or worse – so it’s worth the cost.

An IT specialist

I don’t know about you, but my website is the hub of my business, which is why it’s an absolute nightmare when it goes down. This has only happened a couple of times, but even so, it’s an incredibly stressful and scary experience. You wonder whether your site is gone forever, how long it will take to get it back up, and how many page views you’re missing out on – when your site goes down, a lot goes through your mind. I’m lucky because I have the support of an IT specialist at all times – this is something that every business should have because it’s just so essential, especially if you rely on your website for generating business.

So there you have it, a guide to the help that every business, no matter what its size, should have on hand.
