Father’s Day is just over a week away, which means that it’s time to start shopping for the man in your life. Whether it’s your dad, your grandad, your uncle, your stepfather, or your older brother, Father’s Day is a time for celebrating the men that helped to raise you. Personally, I like to buy for both my dad and my step dad, as they’re both an important part of my life.

The problem I have is struggling to find them gifts that they will *actually* like. I mean there’s only so many ‘World’s Best Day’ mugs, socks and ties a man can use… I like to choose gifts that they’ll actually want – I’m the same with every occasion from birthdays and Christmas to anniversaries, I always like to find that perfect present.

In case you’re struggling to find a gift that your dad – or you surrogate dad – will love, I’ve put together a gift guide to some presents that he’ll actually want.

Smartphone camera lenses

Got a dad who is photography mad and prefers to use his smartphone for his photo capturing? Then why not treat him to some smartphone camera enhancing lenses that will give his photos a boost and improve the quality and clarity of his images. There are various smartphone lens kits available but one of the best brands to buy from is Olloclip – they’re pricey but worth every penny. My step dad loves taking photos on his smartphone, so this is the kind of gift that I know he’d love.

Portable phone charger

Is your dad’s phone always running out of battery? Is he a total nightmare to get hold of? Then why not change that by treating him to a portable phone charger? Don’t just buy him a power bank though, look for a portable charger that’s a little more exciting, such as a keychain that doubles as a portable charger or a themed design. My dad is always on his iPhone, so this is the type of gift he’d really appreciate.

Stylish shirt

Does your dad have a hideous collection of terrible shirts that even the Fashion Police wouldn’t know what to do with? Then perhaps you should treat him to a new, stylish shirt for Father’s Day? Just think, it’s a gift he would get plenty of use out of. There are lots of brands that sell nice shirts, but the Charles Tyrwhitt designs are most definitely a cut above the rest (see what I did there?!).

Mini speaker

Is your dad a music lover? For any dad who loves listening to his tunes, even if they are years out of date, a mini speaker could make a fantastic gift. Got a dad who is Star Wars mad? These novelty Star Wars speakers could make the ideal gift. You can find speakers in all manner of shapes, it’s just a case of thinking about what your dad’s passionate about and choosing a speaker to match his interest.

Male grooming kit

Does your dad like to take care of himself and his skin? If he’s the kind of guy who likes to look after his appearance then he would probably appreciate a luxury male grooming kit. There are so many fantastic male grooming kits to choose from, that cater to a wide range of needs that you’re sure to find one that’s a perfect fit for your dad’s skincare needs. (Make sure to find out what skin type he has before purchasing anything…) If he’s not a skincare fan, a beard grooming kit could also work well, if he has a beard that is. A great beard grooming kit to try is the Admiral one as it’s wonderfully luxurious and ideal for sensitive skin – they also do a skincare range too.

Hopefully, this list of gifts will inspire you to find your dad the perfect present this Father’s Day. It’s not always easy picking a gift for your dad (or another important man in your life) but a little creative thinking is all it takes. If all else fails and you can’t find him a gift he’ll love, bake him a cake and hand decorate a card – this never fails to impress, or at least it didn’t when I was ten!
