As my beauty posts have been lacking recently, I thought I would start a new monthly series called ‘Haul Time: My Latest Makeup & Beauty Buys’. Once a month I’ll be sharing my newest makeup and beauty buys with you, along with my thoughts about them.

This month, by hauls post will feature some items that I got for Christmas, on Black Friday, and in the January sales. (A long time ago now, but still worth a share.) Want to see what new items I’ve added to my beauty cupboard – then read on! (And yes, I have that much beauty stuff that I need a whole cupboard to store it in…)

Spectrum Collections, 4 Piece Contour Face Set

The last time I got new makeup brushes was back in 2015, so when I saw that Spectrum Collections were having a sale, I knew that I had to invest in some new brushes. I mean, they were half price – it would have been rude not to! Anyhow, I was super lucky as I got one of the last Spectrum Collections 4 Piece Contour Face Sets.

I’ve used Spectrum Collections brushes before and loved them as they’re just so pretty – of all the brush sets out there, they are, without a doubt, the most Instagrammable brushes on the market. So it’s no wonder that they’ve taken the social media world by storm over the past couple of years. Of course, it helps that they are fantastic for applying makeup!

Not only do I love how bright and beautiful these brushes are and the fact that they’re so easy to use, but also the fact that they are vegan and cruelty-free. I might not be a vegan, or even a vegetarian for that matter, but I don’t believe in animals being harmed simply for vanity, so wherever I can, I like to choose cruelty free beauty products.

Smashbox, Light It Up 3 Palette Set

I am a major fan of Smashbox’s products. I swear by their Soft Lights highlighter and blush duo (this has now been discontinued but I lucky still have some left), and I’m also a big fan of their eyeshadows – I have one of the eyeshadow trios and use it daily. I’ve been wanting to try more Smashbox products for ages but the price has unfortunately been holding me back, plus I’ve been stuck between an eyeshadow palette and lipstick – every girl’s biggest dilemma.

However, when I saw that the Light It Up 3 Palette Set contained three mini palettes – the Contour palette, the Photo Op Eye Shadow palette, and the Be Legendary lipstick palette – I knew I had to have it. Not only did it contain three different types of products in cute, miniature palette form, but on Boxing Day it went on sale, which meant by buying it I would be making a fantastic saving.

No.7, Lip Library in All About Pink

I’ve been in need of some new lipsticks and glosses for a while – I’ve got a lot of MUA and Makeup Revolution ones, but I’ve been wanting some slightly higher quality ones to test out. When I was in Boots browsing the sales and came across the No.7 Lip Library in All About Pink on sale at half price, I knew that I had to get it. Although I had never tried the No.7 lipsticks or glosses before, I have tried the foundation and highlighter stick and am a big fan of both, so I know that No.7 offer good quality products.

I’m quite fussy when it comes to the shades of lip products that I will use, simply because I have pale skin and fair hair, which means that darker colours tend to leave me looking washed out. However, I am a big fan of pink-hued lip products as they tend to work well with my skin tone, which makes the No.7 Lip Library in All About Pink ideal for me.

What I love about these lip products is that they come in a range of finishes – there are three lip crayons, two of which are high-shine and one of which is matter, and two lipglosses. The fact that these lip products come in miniature sizes is ideal, as it means that they fit perfectly into my handbag without taking up too much room.

I’ll be back again next month with my next roundup of beauty buys, so watch this space!
