It is not always as easy as it should be to find the right career and the right job. Often, we think we know what we want to do, but when we get it, the reality is quite different, and sometimes we choose the right career but the specific job we find is not quite the right fit for us.

This can lead to many people wasting a whole lot of time in a job that is never going to take them where they want to be. If you want to avoid a similar fate, then it is a good idea to get good at spotting the right job when you have it.

With that in mind, below are some key signs that you have found the right job.

You wake up happy most morning

If you are one of those people who has no trouble springing out of bed in the morning happy to get to work, this is probably the biggest indicator that you are in the right job for you. If you linger in bed, wishing you would not have to get up and go to work at all, then chances are you might need to rethink your career choices. Your mood can tell you a lot about whether you are doing work you value or not.

You feel challenged

Whether we are doing home care jobs, banking jobs, or working with animals, we need to feel challenged as human beings if we are to enjoy our work and grow in our careers. If you find your work too easy, too mind-numbingly boring, then you can take that as a sign the job is not for you.

You like your co-workers

If you don’t like your co-workers, then you will find it difficult to enjoy your job and get things done as effectively and efficiently as you otherwise might. So, even if the career is right for you, it might be that another job with different colleagues would be more appropriate for you.

You get good feedback

One typing that signals that you have chosen the optimum job for you is the quality of your work. If you are consistently hitting it out of the park and you are constantly getting good feedback from your bosses, at the very least, it shows you have chosen a job that you are competent at. That being said, if the job is too easy, you might soon find yourself getting bored.

You care about the business

If you care about the company you are working for, love its ethos, and want to help it achieve its goals, this is possibly the greatest sign of all that you have chosen your job role well for you.

If you are able to spot most of the signs above in your job, then chances are you have found the right role for you and you can continue progressing up the career ladder. If you have not, then it might be time to rethink your job.
